Newspaper cutting: Employed by Henry Headley, grocers of Ashford, for over 54 years and manager of their Sissinghurst shop for the past 22 years, Mr Charles Albert Stanley, of Wyndhurst, Sissinghurst, died on Friday, aged 67. Eldest son of the late Mr and Mrs C Stanley of Ashford, he was a prominent member of the Ashford Wheelers in his young days and came second in the Kent Mile cycling championship. For many years he was employed at Headley's Kent Sweet Works, at Ashford, and in the 1914-18 war served with the 3/5 Buffs and in France with the Machine Gun Corps. In the late war he was a special constable. Family mourners at the funeral at Sissinghurst on Wednesday were Mrs Stanley (widow), Miss Stanley (daughter), Mr and Mrs C and Mr and Mrs B Stanley (brothers and sisters in law), Mr and Mrs S Farmer (brother in law and sister), Mr and Mrs J Kennett, Mrs Jell (brother in law and sisters in law), Mr C and Mr L Kennett (nephews).
