According to Michael Farris his original surname was Ladveg as he was a naturalised German. Changed it before WWI. veg supposedly means way

Looks like they must have moved here between 1881 and 1885. However there were Ladwigs in Cardiff from about 1870

Possibly called Lodwig on 1881 census. Ferdinand Lodwig was a shopkeeper in Cardiff in 1881.
