Sophia Calela Pocknall
Research Notes: Sophia Calela Pocknall (christened 7/2/1830), daughter of Caleb (1807) and Esther (Hester) (nee Dungate), emigrated from London to Australia 28/10/1855, arriving at Hobson's Bay, Victoria on 11 January 1856, aboard the "Clasmerden". She married James Richard Wareham, a miner, in 1859. They lived in Errard St., Ballarat and had five children. Sophia died in 1869, 11 months after the birth of her last child. Sophia is buried, with her husband, son & 2 daughters in the Old Cemetery, Ballarat, Area B, Section 2, Row 1, Grave 4. Noted events in her life were: • Census UK: Aged 11, 1841, Swanley, Sutton At Hone, Kent, England. 3 • Census UK: Servant, aged 23, Unm, 1851, 58 Crown St, Shoreditch, Middlesex, England. 4 Claims b. Swanley Sophia married James Richard Wareham on 12 Feb 1859 in Pres.Manse, Ballarat, Australia.1 (James Richard Wareham died on 28 Oct 1883.) |
