Research Notes: he must have married Alfred Butler's sister as a James & Mary Harman are witnesses at the wedding in 1854. Birth Notes: He was possibly a James Phillip Harman c. Icklesham, 11 Jun 1815. However in later censuses there seem to be 2 James Harman's b. in Icklesham abt 1816. Lab., aged 65, Mar, 1881, Icklesham, Sussex, England. 8 James married Mary Crossingham, daughter of Abraham Butler and Mary Crossingham, about Dec 1847 in Rye District, Sussex, England.1 (Mary Crossingham was born about 1826 in Icklesham, Sussex, England 2 9, christened on 20 Dec 1826 in Icklesham, Sussex, England 10 and died about Mar 1905 in Rye District, Sussex, England 1.) |
