  General Notes:

Cyril Percy Holt was married to Ivy Bessie McCaffrey on the 21st. November 1933. He was 26 and she was 23 years old. His address at that time was 97 Sheffield Street Crosby. His father was a bricklayer by profession. The two witnesses to the wedding were George Bernard Sykes (Nickname "Bunny"), a Stockport Borough Police Officer. (Hugh John Blundell McCaffrey, brother of Ivy Bessie was nicknamed "Bunty" as a result of Bunny Sykes. Enid Beatrice Rayfield (daughter of Dorothy Rayfield Nee Blundell, one of Ivy Bessie's mother's sister) was the other witnesses. Cyril Percy's profession at the time of the marriage was a Roll-turner. The Curate was Allen Sutcliffe.

Cyril Percy was a motor cycle enthusiast in his youth and even raced in the Isle of Man races. He was a friend of Isac Monks who raced for the Moto Guzzi racing team.

During the 2nd. World War he was deferred military service as he was a roll turner at the Durham Rolling Mills, and was required for war production. He served as a sergeant in the Home Guard during hostilities and as a young boy, the compiler used to secretly play with the Bren gun which stood in readiness near the front door and view the locked cupboard that contained his ammunition magazines and webbing pouches.

Cyril married Ivy Bessie McCaffrey, daughter of Hugh John Thomas McCaffrey and Ethel Blundell, on 21 Nov 1933 in Christ Church. Heaton Norris. Stockport. Cheshire. (Ivy Bessie McCaffrey was born on 20 Apr 1910 in Larkfield. East Malling. Kent. England, died on 12 Nov 1999 in Seacross Hospital. Leeds. Yorkshire. and was buried in Cremated.)

The Parish Church. Christ Church. Heaton Norris. Stockport in the County of Lancaster. No rank or profession was shown for Ivy, but Cyril was a Roll-turner. The Curate (Parish Priest) was Allen Sutcliffe.
