I hold a copy of Stephen's will. Baptised at Peasmarsh Church on 27 Jul 1781. Buried on 3 April 1818. Stephen was a Wesleyan Minister from 1802-1818. There is a website that has his name on it REFERENCES: Baptism Transcript from Peasmarsh Church Parish Register Buried on 3 April 1818. Headstone at SS Peter and Paul, Peasmarsh reads: Butler, Stephen, Late Wesleyan Preacher, died 30/3/1818 aged 36. Transcript of Stephen`s will (as far as I can make it out) is In the name of god Amen. I Stephen Butler at this time at my brother Edward Butler`s in the parish of Rye in the county of Sussex being in sound mind working all and **** other do make and design this to be my last will and testament by law herewith aforesaid will and ** ** testament I give and bequeath the undermentioned property that is to say one hundred pounds now in possession of Mr Abraham Butler Senr on a note of bond also one hundred and fifty pounds in the possession of Mr William Anderson of Southgate Middlesex on a note of bond also cash er er to be equally divided between my brother Edwd att(?) Butler of the parish of Rye and my brother Abrm Butler of the parish of Peasmarsh and my sister Jane Jenkings of Saltwood near Hythe Kent and to Mary Ann Huller(or Fuller) of Saint Mathews Hospice in the county of Suffolk Also I give to my brother Edwd Butler of my books to the amount of twenty pounds such as he shall prefer or ** select for himself I also give to my brother Abrm Butler of my books to ** an amount of ten pounds and also to my sister Jane Jenkings I give books to the amount of ten pounds the selection of the books to be made for my brother Abrm and my sister Jane by my brother Edwd and offer the said selection of the books for **** the remainder of my books to be equally divided between the said Edward Butler Abm Butler and Jane Jenkings. I also give the whole of my working apparel to my brother Abm Butler. I also appoint my brother Edward Butler and my brother John Jenkings to be executors of this my last will and testament witness my hand thus on 04th day of March 1810 ?Stephen Butler? signed in the presence of us ?b** a Banister? John Russell Proved at London 1st October 1818 before the worshipful John Danbary & porter of laws and surrogate by the oaths of Edward Butler the brother & John Jenkings the exttors to whom abuttion was granted being first sworn only to administer. 1
